Howdy!

I know its been awhile. I am trying to keep track of every little thing and sometimes things like this slip my mind. Since I am no longer living at home keeping you up to date on the ongoings at home may be a little difficult. But I can try :)

This year I joined the Class of 2013 at Texas A&M (AAAAA!). I am loving college! I am a part of the Catholic sorority here at St. Mary's Kappa Theta Beta. I have been attending Breakaway, an amazing non-denominational bible study on campus every Tuesday night. It has definately been one of my favorite things to attend here on campus. 6000 students show up every week for praise and worship and a truly amazing bible study. I am taking a cluster, which means that I have my engineering basics with all the same people, of the same types of major (I am Computer Engineering - CS track and I have classes with Computer Engineering- EE track and Electrical Engineering). I am the only girl in all these classes but I have met some wonderful guys that have been helping me through. I am not living on campus this year but I am in an off campus dorm that has come with a lot of drama but its okay. I spend a lot of my time on campus with Ryan or my friends or doing homework in the library or in the SCC.

Brett started her junior year at Plano East this year and is taking AP English and US History as well as Culinary Arts, PreCal, and Physics. She recently adopted one of our foster kittens. He is 5 months old and she named him "Boo". He apparently sleeps in my bed and has taken over my room.

Mom is still working at Williams. She quit teaching high school conformation this year and instead is taking her Sundays to relax and keep up with the house. She wants to get back into sewing more and I hope she does :)

Papa is working at RIM and we miss him when he has to go to Canada and Japan (both trips are coming up pretty soon). He completed a triatholon on Labour day after training all summer :) we are very proud of him. He also just had his 51st birthday.

Jessie had surgery in early June for a torn muscle in her knee. She had to be kept on a leash till last week in and out of the house. We are very glad she is back to walking normal.

About to Be a Senior.

(Brett and I in our room on the cruise)

In 8 days I start back school as a Senior. crazy. 2 weeks from now I start filling out college applications as they open September 1st. Life has been pretty crazy.

The family got back last Thursday from a five day cruise that left out of Galveston and stopped in cozumel, Mexico and Progreso, Mexico. Unfortunatly I was sick with Strep or something very much like it for half the vacation and had to get shots and antibiotics but we did have fun. The food was very good and we had Three Course dinners every evening and the buffet was open almost all day for lunch and breakfast. In Cozumel we went snorkling on the reefs and it was so beautiful. The fish came right up to us. In Progreso we went Kayaking which wasnt too much fun. We did it in a very remote location and Mom and I had a lot of trouble getting our kayak to go in the direction we wanted it to. The entertainment back on board was fun. the ship had a large theater that filled to capacity for the shows. It also had three pools and a mini golf course. The last day it started raining and we went to the library and rented some games and a puzzle and stayed in the room but it was a lot of fun.

Cruise Highlights!

Hello All.

Sunday, July 20, 2008
This is my first posting in the The Decker Family Blog. My cousin Jenny has one for her family and I thought it was a cool idea to keep track of what your family does on a semi-weekly basis. That way I can look back in 20 years and see exactly what I was doing in highschool

A little bit about the family...

  • That is me. Erin Decker. I am 17 and I will be a senior in highschool this year. I work at Hobby Lobby and am on the Youth Council at St. Mark's. I have no idea what I want to do for the rest of my life but I will probably be going to Texas A&M in fall of 2009.

  • That would be Brett. Happy Birthday Little Sister! She is 15 today and going to be a sophmore in High School. She plays soccer a lot and has been playing in the summer Catholic softball league for St. Marks. Its a lot of fun, after mass on Sundays we get together and play softball against another church and then have icecream.
  • Then there is Mom. She works at Brett's highschool (we are divided into Sr High and High school so Brett goes to Williams which is 9th and 10th and I go to Plano East which is 11th and 12th). She is the assistant librarian and she loves it. She has been busy this summer sewing and taxiing Brett and I around but that will change soon seeing as I am getting a car this week :)
  • Papa now works for Research in Motion, the company that makes Blackberrys among other things. He works from home most of the time but he is in Canada a lot. Brett didn't know that he switched companies four months ago till today. :p haha He says I should put on here that he is smart, sophisticated, and suave. I told him he shouldn't lie.
